Carey was once a popular fashion model. She stands almost 5'10" tall and was very sought-after by the famous American designers such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, etc. Her father was a prominent geoscientist and was recognized as the Scientist of 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Because of his professional career Carey grew up all around the world. When she was attending the University of Colorado at part-time when she was discovered to be the target of Ford model Agency representative in New York. She briefly lived and studied in Paris after which she returned to New York. Her modeling and academic career rocketed and she was featured on Glamour's, Vogue's as well as many other covers of magazines. In between her modeling assignments she was also a full-time student, completing a master's degree in literature at New York University. Her interest grew in acting and began taking classes with the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. In 1986 she had her first performance as a small part in Club Paradise, with Robin Williams. She enjoys ski, wind surfing as well as rock climbing, and white water rafting.
